I really hope that even if you are just browsing today and are not considering us for a school placement that you will find the tabs to your left useful and helpful. I founded my first company Big Bear Bespoke Education to be those two things, because I wanted to use my ethos, experiences and qualifications to help comfort, support, educate and inform. It is an ethos that continues throughout other companies I'm involved in through the Bravura group, and of course through Arun Court School, formally The Learning and Well-Being Centre which is under the very competant, enthustiastic and caring daily leadership of Chris Bevan and Gillian Williams.
The young people and families we work with are often feeling battered and bruised by the system, and we aim to provide both care and challenge, working with families rather than parallel to them. We hope that if you continue to booking a tour you will find a place that is warm, caring and holistic.
I was once told by a very wise man, that the best people in leadership are 'grey haired mavericks'. I've only got a few of the greys at the moment, and as the young people will tell you my hair has been pink, yellow, brown and purple over the years so it's surprising it hasn't all fallen out really! But I am definately a maverick.
I don't believe in tick boxes
I don't believe in 'miracle scheme books' and off the shelf packages
I don't believe in buzz words
I don't believe in sugar-coating my words .... a spade is a spade
I want to break glass ceilings, not put barriers in - life gets a lot more fun when you start saying yes afterall!
If it is within the law, within therapy guidelines and within the capacity of our resources and if it doesn't affect our current other young people negatively, then we will aim to deliver as bespoke a package as possible for your young person and your family. The young person's voice is very important to us.
Come along for a tour if you are interested in the school, or check out the Bravura website if you are looking for consultancy services or just want to catch up on what myself and the other directors are involved in!
