Sample Medium Term Plans - these are starting points only. Staff create bespoke medium term plans for the small groups, pairs or individuals they teach and submit these to the principal. It is very important to us that work is differentiated and meets the abilities, interests and needs of the students. These plans do however indicate the types of learning objectives covered. Staff have the freedom to plan in a way that suits their own needs - word, excel or powerpoint
Where possible physical education is delivered at Guildford Spectrum Leisure centre by qualified coaches and professionals. Recognised shemes are followed with certificates and badges of achievement. This is the case for swimming, trampolining, badminton and rock climbing. In addition teachers with the correct expertise plan and lead small versions of team sports either at hired venues such as the village hall or outside at the local sports fields. The MTPs for these more local activities are shown below. Furthermore, the weekly 'Adventure' sessions are planned and led by Chris Bevan and Sarah Bull who both hold Forest school qualifications. These activities take place at Alice Holt forest and at other local sites, and include P.E linked activties such as orienteering, cross country running and 'Go Ape' adventure course. Students in years 9, 10 and 11 move over entirely to the Spectrum where they are able to join the gym and take classes that are based on encouraging their specific areas of interest with a view to increasing their performance and joining clubs outside of school. Students also begin ice skating and horse riding courses in these later year groups if they would like to.
