We have proudly sponsored the OCD UK National conference in the past, and have worked very successfully with many young people with OCD, transitioning many them back into mainstream provision. As a school we intend to continue this work. We highly recommend parents join OCD UK and recieve the excellent magazine - again if you can't commit to joining we have always got copies at school for loan. Members of OCD UK can access a range of support, including online counselling and they have their own youth organisation too.
There are so many types of OCD and they are explained in much better detail than we could manage via this link to the OCD UK
What is important to us is how proud we are to have worked with many aspects of OCD which are often not recognised by the general public including intrusive thoughts forms, as well as more stereotypically known forms such as germ-phobias.
SFC (solution-focussed coaching) and CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) in combination has shown to be the most rapid and sustainable method of support in our setting, but as always we provide a holistic approach and are happy to adapt our programmes to suit individual interests and needs.
The supportive nature of the school, and our ability to create a very bespoke programme, really supports students with this diagnosis. We have had great success in supporting students with various types of OCD including those with germ-phobia.
